Area 11 Combined Training Team Qualifier - Saturday 19th September 2020
A huge well done to our combined training team who came an amazing 3rd place overall! Individually Susan came 4th, Kim came 2nd and Nicki came 3rd! This was a fantastic result for WSRC who ended up competing with a team of 3 instead of 4 and with a last minute change of team members due to a change of date. This gave our team less than 2 weeks to prepare, we couldn't be prouder!
Well done to our junior rider Sophie for competing in her first riding club competition for WSRC. A massive thank you goes to Tanya for organising the team, Beverley SMith for kindly giving up her day and volunteering to be a show jump steward so that our team were able to compete and to Chris who not only took his beautiful photographs but also stood in as team manager and did a fabulous job looking after our team of riders and horses.

WSRC Surrey Hills Treasure Hunt Fun Ride - 24th November 2019
We held our first treasure hunt on Farley Heath leaving from the Roman Temple which was open to members and non members . Riders followed a marked trail looking for ‘treasure’ hidden in trees including gold and silver (sprayed fir cones) and rubies (red tree baubles) along with carrots for the horses and the final piece of treasure was a slice of cake ! Everyone really enjoyed the event and the weather stayed fine ! We plan to hold another in the Spring so details to follow.

London and South East Horse Trials Championship - 6th October 2019
Congratulations to Giselle for going double clear today in the Horse trials and placing 5th individually. Massive well done to all our WSRC ladies for their fantastic dressage scores! Especially well ridden dressage tests from Amy with 27 and to Tina getting 28.8. We saw some great showjumping, with only a couple of knocks and all looked great going into the XC. Unfortunately both Amy and Sara’s horses didn’t want to leave their friends, and made their riders work hard for it and got around the course with a couple of refusals, Giselle and Tina rode fantastic clear rounds.
Today wasn’t our day for the team finishing 13th out of 18, however as always we had fun, lots of smiles and support and everyone finished safely. Thank you to everyone involved and to Chris for the photographs, Sylvia and Nicki jump judging and to Julie for dressage writing and to Cathy, Ro for their wonderful support.

Arena Eventing Qualifier at Cherwell House - Sunday 29th November 2019
A huge congratulations to Tina for placing first place in the Arena eventing competition and qualifying for finals! It looks like another outing to Aston will be planned in March!
Well done to the rest of the team competing for WSRC around what seemed like a surprisingly challenging course. Tina and Dolly rode a beautiful smooth and fast clear round, followed by Louise who rode a confident round with a couple of unfortunate knocks. Sam and Tally had a tough time in the warm up ring which shook them both up prior o going in and then could not jump a spread in the arena so sadly got eliminated. Megan and Tills had a great whizzy round until right at the end when her horse spooked at the stewards and threw in a stop and spin and Megan did the most graceful dismount landing sitting on the XC bench jump.
It was not to be today for the team sadly, however really proud of everyone to still be smiling afterwards and so supportive of each other. Well done everyone. A massive thank you to Chris for kindly travelling all that way to photograph or team and to Cathy for helping.

WSRC Mini XC Training Day with Johanna - Saturday 3rd August
Vikki organised a fantastic training opportunity for our grass roots members to enjoy a day training over 1'6"-1'9" XC jumps. This clinic allowed nervous jumpers and young horses to increase their confidence and have a go jumping XC jumps in a fun, friendly and encouraging atmosphere.
Clinics like this are what our club are about, helping members achieve something they wouldn't want to do on their own. Feedback from all of our riders was wonderful and WSRC look forward to organising future events like this.
A big thank you to Johanna for her fantastic and encouraging instruction. Judith who attended this training said "Jo was just right with encouragement and advice. I think everyone ticked some boxes today. My two cohorts were brilliant and we all did every obstacle". Well done every one involved!

10th March 2019 - 80cm Arena Eventing Final at Aston LeWalls
A huge congratulations to our amazing Arena Eventing Team, Tina, Louise, Megan and Tanya for placing 10th at the Horse Quest Arena Eventing Championship at Aston LeWalls. We are extremely proud of all of our riders, firstly for winning the qualifier at Pyecombe and then for riding so well at Aston LeWalls placing in the final championship.
Our team were super speedy with Tina, Tanya and Louise riding faster than the optimum time and both Megan and Tina clearing the large joker fence perfectly at the end of their rounds. It is very impressive how well our team did with two 14.1hh ponies, and the majority of our horses being veterans! It was an honour to watch our team ride so beautifully and fast!
10 of our riding club members went up to Aston for the whole weekend, taking over a local B&B and stable in preparation for the finals to drive, manage, groom, photograph, volunteer at the show and cheer on our team. It was a fun (wet, cold and muddy) weekend full of lots of laughter and support. Thank you so much to Sam, Julie, Ro, Christopher, Judith and Cathy for joining us all and making it even more fun and special having such great support and company.Thank you to Chris for capturing wonderful photographs and a big thank you to Cathy for staying on later to volunteer at the competition so our team were allowed to compete. Novice Winter 80-85cm Show Jumping Qualifier at Sands Farm - Sunday 10th February 2019A massive well done to our WSRC team and individual show jumpers. We had one team and two individuals entered for this, with the 1st round a course of fences at 80cm and then a 2nd round at 85cms. The format was the usual team of 4 with 3 scores to count. Our team did really well to finish in 5th place with beautiful purple rosettes to match our WSRC colours! In the first round Tina and Tanya flew around the course and unfortunately just caught a pole each. Sam had a steady clear, followed by a neat and tidy clear from Kimberly. The second round was a bit more problematic for our intrepid jumpers. It was a very testing course with the jumps being wide spreads and up to full height. Tina knocked one pole, Tanya was sadly eliminated when her pony decided he’d had enough of jumping things bigger than him! Sam did a super clear and Kimberly just caught the very last fence. This gave the team a finishing score of 12 and put them 5th overall.
We had Charlotte represent WSRC as a senior individual and Imogen as a junior individual. Charlotte was the first of our two individual riders but it was not her day and she was unfortunate to be eliminated. Our junior rider Imogen rode a lovely first round with one unfortunate pole knocked. Imogen’s second round was also problematic when her pony decided that green just wasn’t his favourite colour resulting in elimination.
There was a wonderful supportive team spirit between our riders and supporters and as always all of our riders ended the day with lots of smiles. Thank you to our six riders for representing WSRC, being part of team does make show jumping more fun as it gives you someone to support between your rounds and someone to cheer you on when it’s your turn. Our members wore black arm bands whilst competing in loving memory and respect for our membership secretary Rebecca Attridge.
Many thanks to Jenny for being our wonderful team manger, Julie, Judith and all of the WSRC friends and family for supporting our club on the day. A huge thank you to our wonderful club photographer Chris who took time to support s in the cold and take beautiful photographs for us all to enjoy.

Biomechanics Clinic with Lottie Bletchley at Cranleigh RDA - 2nd January 2019
Our members learnt loads at our Biomechanics session. Lottie gave inspiring and helpful advice and all of our riders noticed a difference by the end of the session. Each rider and horse were given detailed feedback and advice to work on to help their balance and position.

Arena Eventing Qualifier at Pyecombe - Saturday 10th November 2018
Our WSRC Arena Eventing teams were awesome! It was our first club attempt at Arena Eventing and we may have found our niche! We are well known as the friendly club, who love our outings, socializing, picnics and bubbly, today Every now and again this club knocks it out of the ball park and surprises everyone... We have done it a few times, years ago we unexpectedly won the Hickstead show jumping teams, we won our area Good Friday dressage show, we won Horse Trials...but it’s been a little illusive for our teams lately so we were due our ‘un expected surprise’ and that we certainly got! Our WSRC 80cm team of Tanya, Tina, megan and Louise won their class with individual placings of Tina coming first and Tanya fourth!
As if that wasn’t enough excitement, the cool and collected 90cm WSRC team of Lynn, Pili, Claire and Giselle only went and won their class with Claire coming 4th and Giselle coming 5th individually. The entire committee are so proud right now. As with all of our events there was a wonderful team spirit and big group of supporters cheering on our riders. Thank you to Samantha for standing in as team manager, Jenny for organizing all the entries, Cathy and Beverley for volunteering so our riders were able to take part, Julie, Ro and Judith and all the friends and families of our riders for being so cheerful and supportive. A massive thank you to Chris for being out in the cold all day taking beautiful phtographs for us all to keep and treasure. Please do see the photos they are wonderful! We would also like to thank Carl for all the team trainings run by him in the lead up to Pyecombe making a huge difference and raised the confidence for our members ride to victory!

Dressage to Music Final at Sands Farm - 21st October 2018
We were very proud to see two of our members qualify for the Dressage to Music Championship at Sands Farm. A huge congratulations to both Jenny and Vikki who rode beautifully at the qualifier, placing to continue onto the finals. Thank you to both of you for representing WSRC. Vikki did particularly well finishing in first place.
Beauty and Victoria performed beautifully at the London and South East Dressage to Music Championships. Beauty was very laidback until her name was called over the loud speakers which made her freeze to the spot. However, the moment the music started she regained focus and skipped through the test. Finishing on a score of 65%. They came away with a beautiful rosette and trophy. A massive well done from all of us!

FOTH Challenge and Combined training competition at Munstead Showground - 6th October 2018
We saw some great riding from our brave team trying their best on a ridiculously wet and cold day! Emily did her Dressage Test in thick fog and then as Tanya, Lynn and Giselle started their Dressage there was a sudden a down pour of heavy rain and strong wind! All four riders made it through the dressage with smiles on their faces and we had three clears in the show jumping section. Lynn Roberts did us proud placing 5th individually and well done to Tanya for placing 9th individually standing in last minute to make up the team, riding a different horse with only one days ride prior to the event!
Tina and Tanya were both amazing in the eventers challenge, riding fast and boldly around the XC course. Tina rode a fantastic round, she had one unlucky sj pole clipped as her horse landed and the rest was ridden beautifully. It sounds like she had loads of fun on the XC course despite looking like she had been swimming fully clothed due to the weather! Dolly and Tina were very close to placing finishing on a brilliant time, if Dolly hadn’t accidentally rolled a pole on landing in the sj phase they would have finished in 4th. Tanya and Tom went clear in the showjumping looking really strong going out onto the XC course. Tom decided he didn’t like the look of one jump, but jumped it perfectly second time around completing the XC course in a good time. Unfortunately neither placed, but both did us proud and hopefully enjoyed themselves despite the cold!
A massive thank you to Louise, Christopher, Sam and Judith for your support today and all the running around! Thank you Jenny for dropping off the WSRC hat silks first thing and to Cathy who as always was doing a fantastic job helping to run the whole event. Of course we couldn’t have done any of this without Julie organising it all from her sick bed! We wish you a speedy recovery. Well done team WSRC! As always we had a wonderful day and are always so proud to belong to such a friendly and positive club I hope everyone is looking forward to the next event! Thank you Chris for the fantastic photographs.

London And south East Dressage Qualifier - 21st July 2018
Well done to all of our WSRC Dressage competitors who took part in the London and South East Dressage Qualifiers at Pachesham on Saturday. We watched some great tests from the WSRC teams and it was wonderful to see some new faces representing our club. We hope you will all be back out with us again soon! Chipstead Riding Club did an amazing job of running the event, completely changing the set up plans last minute from grass to surface to make it safe for all riders and their horses due to the hard ground.
We are very proud to say the 'Chilworth Chicks' team of Sophie Tack, Rebecca Attridge, Julie Johnson and Louise Hollington came a credible 7th in the L&SE competition, missing out on 6th place by just two marks. Our other team the A'lbury Aces' including Lizzy Crossan, Judith Dunne, Jacquie Fabb and Lisa Vanoli put up a great fight with impressive 60+ scores which at any ‘normal’ competition would have been highly competitive! Well done to Julie and her horse Romeo for placing 4th in the Riding Test class. Thank you to all our members for competing and supporting each other, as always we had a fun day out and bottles of fizz to celebrate!

Dressage to Music Qualifier at Plumpton College - 15th July 2018
Thank you to Vikki and Jenny for representing WSRC at the Area 13 Dressage to Music Qualifier. A big congratulations to Vikki and her horse Beauty for scoring 69% placing 1st in their class, qualifying for the finals at Sands Farm on the 21st October. We will all be there to cheer you along! A huge well done to Jenny for an amazing 2nd place in her two complex Novice classes, we are waiting to hear if she has qualified for the Dressage to Music Championships.
Jenny and Gero had to go into the more complex Novice class at the National Dressage to Music Qualifier due to a couple of pesky BD points they had accidentally acquired in the past. The floor plan had had a few tweaks and it was new music so after a short warm up, due to the heat they set off down the centre line to Karl Jenkins. Jenny quoted "I remembered to halt which is always good and then off we went. The problem is I can never remember whether I am supposed to go left or right at C but decided on left this time, it doesn't actually matter as the test is symmetrical. So circle here, circle there, left a bit, right a bit, little bit of walk, lots of canter and then done."
It would be great if we could get more members doing this, both Vikki and Jenny thoroughly enjoyed the event. Jenny said "I would be keen to do pairs with someone, either dressed up or in normal show clothing" if you are interested in future Dressage to Music events please let us know.

This years WSRC members day camp was held at Munstead. It was the perfect opportunity for our members and their horses to work on flat work, show jumping and cross-country. Nutrition Talk and Demonstration from at - 14th April 2018
WSRC were given a wonderful talk and demonstration on Nutrition by Fiona Watkins at Little Lockner Farm. It’s so important to understand how feeding effects your horses health and performance. The talk included education around how the horses digestion system works as well as insights into feed including forage, cereals and vitamins. The sun was shining and the tea and cake much enjoyed! After the talk we had the entire yard of equine residents at Lockner weighed and assessed by Fiona which was also very interesting! Thank you to Fiona and Jo and Liz at Lockner for hosting us.

Friendly Show Jumping competition at Elstead Showground - 11th November 2017
Tanya Creaye-Griffin rode Tom as an individual in the 85cms class and Pili Spiers rode in the 95cms class on My Boy Sonny and came a very respectable 4th! The format was made up of teams of three, where one person jumps 75cms, one jumps 85cms and the third person jumps 95cms. Unfortunately for various reasons, on the day only two team members made it to the venue so we were unable to enter any team.
A huge thanks to both ladies for representing WSRC, and to Judith Dunne for her support on a cold and rainy day.

Dressage Intermediate Qualifier at Sands Farm - 14th October
Congratulations to Caitlin Fahy and her horse Shaun for placing 1st in the Junior Prelim and 1st in the Junior Novice at the National Qualifier!
We had a senior team full of wonderful friendly riders compete in the Dressage. We are not a club of pot hunters... we work hard to show improvement and take every rosette with gratitude rather than expectation. The one thing I am always proud of is our ability to share laughter, tears, compliments and most of all support for each other. At 6.30pm we were the only club in the area to have 7 people still on site supporting each other and other area club competitors even though we were not in contention for a team place. Julie called on support today and WSRC people turned up, the team practiced and were beautifully turned out and Chris as always stood all day taking photographs. We may not win but we take part, we may not have success every time but a day catching up with WSRC friends and their horses is always a happy day! Thank you Rebecca Attridge, Lauren Louise Spinks, Tina Pendle and Sarah Mylne.
Well done to Caitlin Fahy for battling her chest infection and having a good day and a huge thank you to Julie Johnson for organizing our riders and to Vikki Chuter, Ro Major, Judith Dunne and Christopher Lee for being the support team!

Everyone helping was so friendly, and there was plenty of encouragement towards my participation in the team. Thank you to Christopher for taking a set of wonderful pictures, and to Julie for being such a supportive team manager. I know it was a really long day so it's amazing that when I came back several hours later to collect my test, everyone was still equally smiley and friendly. Thank you"
Thank you Christopher Lee for taking beautiful photographs as a keepsake of the day. Please follow this link :

We had a large number of lovely WSRC members competing in teams and as individuals. A big ccongratulations to the WSRC bunnies who came 4th! We are very proud of you and delighted to have so many new (and returning) faces to the teams this year! It's great to see so many of you improve and continuing on your horsey journeys. 1st-2nd April 2017 - KBIS Novice Winter Dressage Championships
A massive congratulations to our incredibly talented WSRC Dressage riders Lisa and Caitlin Fahy for both riding beautifully in the BRC Dressage Championships at Keysoe. Lisa's horse sadly had an injury prior to this event and last minute swapped to Caitlin's lovely horse Shaun. They did our club proud placing 7th in the Senior Dressage Championships. Caitlin and Shaun competed in their class the following day finishing 5th in the Junior Novice Championships. Well done ladies!
"What a special pony Shaun was for me today. He pointed his dancing toes and strutted his stuff with the big boys in the Novice Class at the Novice Winter Championships" Lisa Fahy

Saturday 4th March 2017 - National Intermediate Dressage Competition
We took part in the intermediate qualifier for the Bury Farm Winter Championship and we came 5th! Ten area teams took part and we actually tied with Elstead for 4th but just missed out on collectives by 2 points.
Thanks and congratulations to the team of Tina Pendle, Lynn Roberts, Jenny Tully and Lisa Fahy and their wonderfully obliging dancing ponies, Mouse, Henry, Gero and KC! Some very impressive individual performances from Caitlin Fahy and Shaun qualifying for Bury Farm as a Junior individual, Lisa coming 2nd in the Novice and 4th in the Elementory, Jenny taking home a 3rd and 6th and Tina taking home two 3rds.

Sunday 12th February 2017 - Sands Farm Winter Show Jumping
Congratulations to West Surrey Riding Club on achieving 4th place in the 80-85cm team show jumping.
The team did a great job to come 4th out of 13 teams. First round we had 3 clears with a rolled pole for Samantha Petri. The second round Elizabeth Schilling checked that the course builders were paying attention by accidentally demolishing a whole fence! Sam was saved by her pony when she almost missed her fence and her pony did an awesome turn and jumped the fence clear at an incredible angle finishing her round clear. Ella Jarvis had a very unlucky rolled pole in what otherwise was a safe round. Mouse and Tina once again went clear. With the best 3 scores counting that gave us a second round total of 4 faults. No jump off for us but we came 4th, calculated by the sum of the speeds of our fastest 3 riders 2nd rounds. But most importantly we had fun, laughed, and froze together. Being part of team does make show jumping more fun as it gives you someone to support between your rounds and someone to cheer you on when it’s your turn.
