2018 BRC Grassroots Points League
The 2018 BRC Grassroots Points Leagues have now started with two separate leagues; one for 60cm or 70cm show jumping and one for dressage (Walk/Trot and Prelim level). Competitors can gain points at BRC Club organised competitions only. Area Qualifiers and National level competitions will not count.
Monthly score updates will be provided, therefore competitors must return their score card to the BRC head office no later than the 7th of the following month. Results on cards received after this time will not count. The competition will run for ten months from January–October 2018, there will be rosettes down to 10th place, sashes down to 3rd and there will be an overall supreme champion prize for the competitor who has accumulated the most points over the two leagues. The points cards and the Rules can be found on the BRC website. Remember that the points cards must be sent into BRC Head Office no later than the 7th of each month, so that monthly scores can be updated on the BRC website and you will be able to follow the leagues points during the year. 2018 BRC volunteers Points League
In 2018 the British Riding Club have welcomed a brand new points league for volunteers. The British Riding Club has announced the volunteer leagues levels will be defined as follows:
Club League - will be for volunteers who help at club activities run under BRC rules. Area League - will be for volunteers who help at area activities run under BRC rules. National League - will be for all volunteers (including team volunteers) who help at Championships only. Volunteers do not need to be members of a BRC Club to enter the leagues, but for nonmembers and the National League, volunteers must have signed up to the BRC Volunteers’ Club prior to gaining points, which is free to join. Volunteers will need to fill out all details on a card and have it signed by the secretary to confirm the number of hours and the role they undertook. It is the volunteers’ responsibility to present the points card and fill it out upon finishing your role to the secretary for confirmation. Points will be allocated as 1 point per hour helped. Once 4 hours have been completed, 0.5 of a point will also be recorded for every half an hour volunteered. Checks will be carried out by BRC HQ to ensure the information provided is correct. The league will commence on 1 January each year and will finish on 31 December. Point cards will need to be posted or emailed to BRC by the 7 day of every month (except January). Points will not be allocated retrospectively. Rosettes will be awarded to 10th in each league with a sash to first place. A prize for each league will be awarded to first place. All details, and how to print a points card, are available on the BRC website. |

Members Trophy NoticesHelen Kendall has kindly sponsored a trophy to be awarded to a WSRC member over 59 with the most points. The trophy is named after Helen's special horse Tom.
Helen's story... "I bought Tom when I was 59 and started to compete, for the first time in my life on own horse at 60 . He's hardly ever been unplaced up to Elementary dressage. So if a little horse found on an allotment on sink estate in northern city can give an OAP so much fun for ten years of competing, I want to encourage others to do the same!!" |

WSRC Members and Friends Combined Training
WSRC Members and Friends Combined Training - 3rd September 2017
WSRC ran a members and 'friends' only combined training event at Whipley Manor by kind permission of Will & Adrian Elliott and Lisa Fahy. Despite the drizzling wet stuff that unexpectedly came from the sky we had a good turn out and a wonderful venue! We heard so much laughter and saw so many smiles and a lot of support demonstrated for other competitors, even when we didn’t know each other! We hope to see lots more of you at our next event!
Thank you to Julie Johnson, Jenny Tully and Cathy Hughes and everyone involved in organising such a wonderful day. Thank you to Chris for the wonderful photographs.
